Our Catholic school is part of the Catholic Church. We work in partnership with our local parish and priests in order to enrich the spiritual life of the students, staff and families of our school, especially through the celebration of the Sacraments.
The religious life of St Charles’ Catholic Primary School Waverley is nourished by its close relationship with St Charles’ Borromeo Catholic parish and students are actively involved in liturgical ministries through reading, serving, singing, listening and creating artwork.
Throughout each term, students participate in year level and whole school parish Masses, there are opportunities for Years 2 to 6 classes to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a regular basis and daily Christian meditation is practiced.
Students from St Charles’ Catholic Primary School are prepared for the parish Sacramental programs by the school:
- Year 2 students receive the Sacrament of Penance (First Reconciliation or First Confession)
- Year 3 students receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist (First Holy Communion), and
- Year 5 and 6 students receive the Sacrament of Confirmation (Gifts and Fruits of the Holy Spirit) in alternate years through a visiting Bishop.
