We value positive relationships with parents and carers to help develop better social and emotional skills in children. We know that when children are engaged with their learning, they attend school more regularly, leading to better long term outcomes.
For parenting and counselling services, visit the Family Support page, and for direction and clarity on regulations, processes and procedures at our school, read the Sydney Catholic School policies.
Communicating with parents and carers
Communication is made through a variety of ways, such as fortnightly newsletters, Compass app and student reports. Parents and carers can visit the office, if they require assistance, to upload the Compass app.
Meet the teacher, conversations and conferences
To keep parents and carers fully informed about their child’s educational progress, we arrange a ‘meet the teacher’ and parent information evening in Term 1, parent/teacher ‘conversations’ in Term 1 and parent/teacher conferences in Terms 2 and 4. Appointments to meet with staff can be made throughout each term.
School Advisory Council and Parents’ and Friends’ Association
St Charles’ Catholic Primary School Waverley is fortunate to have two parent representative bodies. Our School Advisory Council (SAC) is a consultative body for the school leadership team and parents’ advice is sought on school improvement plans and curriculum programs. Our Parents and Friends Association (P&F) aims to promote our community and foster a cooperative spirit among parents/carers, teachers and students. The major goal of the P&F is ‘community building’ rather than fundraising.
The P&F supports the school by:
- promoting Catholic education by welcoming parents, carers, friends and staff members to be actively involved in the community
- assisting in the provision of equipment and facilities through fundraising initiatives, and
- specific year levels organising hospitality for Grandparents’ Day, Mother’s and Father’s Day events, a Kindergarten ‘Welcome’ BBQ and Year 6 farewell functions.
